About Linette
Artist's Statement

I love collecting sea glass along the shores of my island home in Hawai'i, and am soothed by the soft trade winds and sounds of the surf.  To share this joyful experience, I work to transform my discovered treasures into one-of-a-kind expressions of spirit and elegance imbued with nature's rhythms.

Sea glass captivates me with its intrinsic allure.  The hushed hues of aqua, green, and brown, and sometimes cobalt blue, lavender, and red are enchanting.  Their worn rounded edges are a pleasure to touch!  Having traveled its own journey, each weathered shard of yesteryear is unique.  Often clues to its past remain...parts of words, numbers, and fond familiar patterns.  Yet its origin remains an engaging secret.

After cleaning and sorting my collection for color, size, and shape, I select pieces that invite my interaction.  Match a pair of earrings is particularly challenging.  Working intuitively, I explore ways to hand form 14 karat gold-filled, fine, argentium, and sterling silver wire to embrace and secure each smooth and slippry sea glass contour.  I then shape the wire into gentle flowing lins and attach reflective beads to the ends to echo the whisper of sea foam against the shore.

See "Naturally Formed" for more information on sea glass.
